Turkana: A Territory on the Move. Navigating Uncertainties and Imbalances in Kenya's Northwestern Frontier

The book looks, from a geographical point of view, at the so-called climate-migration-conflict nexus and its spatial and social implications. Territorialisation and community resilience have been adopted as functional frameworks for investigating how to address these complexities - within the broader context of global climate change - in the territorial setting of Turkana County, Kenya. Through an updated conceptualisation of community resilience and a clarification of its relationship with processes of territorialisation, this volume outlines the evolution of local spatial configurations, both from a diachronic and synchronic perspective. Ultimately, the book suggests how to support local adaptation and coping strategies, giving voice to the needs highlighted by the Turkana community members, and protecting the peculiarities of the social and territorial contexts considered.
